Brats, Beer, Charity and Chick Singer Band; What Could Be Better?

Chick Singer Band is tickled retro to announce that we’re kicking off Madison’s Wurst Times festival at 11:45 a.m., Sunday, May 27 at the Brink Lounge. (Hellooooooooooooooooo family friendly!)

Don’t be fooled: Wurst Times is the best time you can have this Memorial Day weekend. 25+ smashing local music groups are banding together to help raise money to fight hunger. Free carnivore and veggie brats will be complimented by local brews that will make you sing “On Wisconsin.”

Backwards.

In Pig Latin.

Oh, and also, all Wurst Times proceeds go to the Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin. More awesome than this, it does not get.

To commemorate our participation in Wurst Times, Chick Singer Band is hosting a Brats of Madison Photo Contest. Submit a photo of you and your friends or family at a familiar Madison location enjoying a brat or veggie-wurst. First prize is two tickets to the High Noon Saloon to a show of your choice.

Check it out on Facebook and enter before May 25 for your chance to win!

Thrill junkie?

We Are A Wedding Band!

And so it is official: Chick Singer Band plays weddings! We have earned Wedding Band status by virtue of having played a wedding. We could also be considered a garage band, having recently played in a parking garage, but that is a different matter all together and I digress. This musical rite of passage (the wedding band thing, I mean) happened ever so elegantly in a barn, with sunlight peeking through wooden slats, lamps made of old timey milking machines, guests in their finery sipping cocktails as the cows complained softly outdoors, and a fine stage from which Chick Singer Band serenaded the newlyweds. And whipped the well-wishers into gleeful, whirling bliss as the wine and happiness flowed. Children spun themselves into dizzyness, inspired by "Mambo Italiano", then fell alseep on their parents to the crooning of "The Night". Couples became dewy-eyed to "Rie y Llora", a Portugese love song to laughter and sadness. And there was cake. After the final song of the evening, Chick Singer's chick singer broke into an impromptu solo, purring out "Making Whoopee" as guests circled around the dancing, happy couple and finished the evening with a raucus, swaying group hug. Oh, yes. The consensus is that Chick Singer Band like playing weddings. Very much. Perhaps yours?

We Have A Saw Player

Spring Chicks

What better day than Easter to reflect upon the burgeoning newness that spring promises?! The Chick Singer 7 have spent the blizzardy winter in semi-cozy basement rehearsal rooms practicing songs from the list of What We Want To Do, all the while wearing extra socks and soloing extra-vigorously for warmth. And now, NOW, it is time to bring our freshly polished songs, exciting and new as baby chicks (OK, I'm taking this Easter thng too far..) into the Wisconsin sunshine. Visions of Tiki bars and brats in the park dance in our heads. May will be a bright month for us as we return to the Eastside Businessman's Club, hopefully opening the Tiki Bar by the lake. Will we have go-go dancers in tow? Well, it's been known to happen... Also, we hit the Alt-Bratfest at Orton Park on May 29. Yes, retro-futuristic lounge AND meat, just when you thought it was too good to be true. This event is a benefit for Community Shares, which supports a multitude of non-profits. Chick Singers lives to give. And lounge. See you in the sun, baby.
